Anna Banana (PLDT myDSL): Philippines Advertising Crossover to Social Media

Anna Banana became a big hit here in the Philippines integrating Filipino and viral marketing insights in a campaign ad for PLDT myDSL.  In my opinion this is a great move to show how the product features can be express to their target market in a more interactive way. The best thing about Filipino market is that they appreciate ads that showcase values. If we look back to the number of previous ads that created a mark to Filipinos mostly tells a story about family ties.

Ace Saatchi  and Saatchi is one of the top dogs in the advertising world here in the Philippines. So I was not shocked when they turned out to be the great minds behind this awesome advertisement for PLDT myDSL. Adapting with the evolution of communication technology they integrated YouTube with their TV ad. I personally think that this ad is the first step of traditional advertising’s successful crossover to social media marketing. A powerful team up to spread the brand or product’s marketing message to their target audience. Now let us follow Derek’s puppy love story as he declares his admiration to Anna in YouTube for the world to see. Also how his family will help him recover from the recent video rejection uploaded by his Anna Banana.
